Re: 404 error when trying to installing mysql for excel 1.1.1
Moderator JAVIER TREVIÑO here taught me this way to force Mysql for Excel to install:
a) First run the MySQL installer to force it to plce MySQL for Excel into the casche.
b) In Windows 7, navigagte to C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Installer\Product Cache
c) Double click the mysql-excel-1.1.0.msi sitting in there.
NOTE 1: The MySQL for Excel installer does not seem to work for the millions of us who have MS Office 2013 "360" as opposed to the "standard" MS Office 2013.
"Standard" MS Office 2013 places a collection of installation files onto your computer which the MS Office 2013 "360" does not put onto the computer. It seems like the MySQL Installer needs those files in order to install MySQL for Excel. Those files are not on the computer for MS Office 2013 "360" so MySQL installer fails to recognize that Excel is present.
NOTE 2: Installing MySQL for Excel from casche (a - c above) ONLY works the first time. After it's installed, if MySQL for Excel later gets updated then (1) the MySQL Installer won't download the update, and (2) we can't get around that problem by downloading MySQL for Excel as a standalone to install over the older installation, because it's not aailable as a standalone download.
It seems like the only way we can get an update of MySQL for Excel on "Office 2013 360" is to completely uninstall all of MySQL and install everything completely new from the latest installer package. Then, since the MySQL for Excel install still won't work, you must run MySQL for Excel from casche (a - c above).
