Connecting to remote server via Mysql for Excel

I currently use Mysql Workbench to manage a database hosted on a remote server. I have set up my SSH secure connection to the database and this works without problems in Workbench.

I have recently installed the Mysql for Excel application and can see all my local and remote connections as configured in Workbench. However, in Excel the remote connections are "greyed-out" and double-clicking on the connection does not bring up the usual password prompt as seen when making a local connection.

Why won't Excel let me connect to my database on the remote server with the same configuration as Workbench?
