Thanks for writing in our forums!
The easiest would be for you to download and install MySQL for Excel since that way you do not need to run any query or setup any ODBC connection from Excel to your MySQL server. You would need only to setup a connection (host, port, username, passowrd) within MySQL for Excel and select your DB and table to dump into Excel in a few clicks.
I suggest you to talk to your IT department about letting you install MySQL for Excel since it will save you some headaches and let you do your task pretty quickly.
