The problem you report with the MySQL Installer is a known issuem and there is already a bug reported for it. For issues found in the MysQL Installer please refer to its corresponding forum.
Not sure if the other problem you found is related with the following bug, please take a look and if it is related you can subscribe to it to know when it gets fixed:

Also you can visit the MySQL for Excel documentation and compare the screenshots you see there with what you see in your installation:
