Thanks for writing in our forums.
What version of MySQL for Excel are you using?
I assume you are doing an Edit Data operation since you say the cells turn blue and nothing happens. But also you mention something about append data and a blue circle. Can you please be specific on what operation is the problem related to?
In MySQL for Excel 1.2.0 we switched the colors of cells, so now green is used for commited and blue for uncommitted. (http://dev.mysql.com/doc/relnotes/mysql-for-excel/en/mysql-for-excel-news-1-2-0.html)
I clarify this in case that change is causing the behavior you see.
