Hi Scott,
Does the Excel spreadsheet you saved contain ODBC connections?
MySQL for Excel does not use ODBC at all, it uses the MySQL Connector.NET to do all communication with MySQL.

I don't think this error is related to MySQL for Excel, you could try by doing the same thing you did to reproduce the error but disabling MySQL for Excel temporarily in the Excel options where you find the COM Add-Ins.
