Commit Hangs After Refresh from Database

After connecting to a remote database and opening a table for edit, I can successfully update and commit rows. However, if I then choose to refresh data from the database (via the floating dialog), update additional rows, and do a new commit, that commit never completes. An hourglass displays indefinitely whenever I hover over the dialog. If I click anywhere in Excel, the normal cursor is redisplayed, but the commit still never completes. Appending and committing a row after refreshing data works as expected; it's just trying to commit edits of existing rows after refreshing that fails.
Anyone else experience a similar issue after refreshing during an edit session? I reported it as a bug (87642), but was told it was not repeatable. It happens for me without fail.
