Hi Sean,
Thanks for writing in our forums!
I see this happening for several users so this should be treated as a bug, please raise a bug report in bugs.mysql.com for the MySQL Notifier product, include as much information as you can (Notifier version, windows version, if your user has administrator privileges, if you had a previous Notifier version installed or if this was a new installation of the Notifier).

Please also try this workaround, uninstall MySQL Notifier, go to "%APPDATA%\Oracle\" and delete the whole MySQL Notifier folder, install the latest MySQL Notifier again.

We will appreciate if you post here your findings.
