Installation Failure of MySQL for Visual Studio 1.1.3 GA

As MySQL for Visual Studio 1.1.3 recently attained GA status and was identified as ready for production environments, we decided to deploy the same. We have since unsuccessfully attempted to install it on clean 64-bit installations of Windows 7 and 8.1 with Visual Studio Ultimate 2013. Specifically, after executing ‘Find latest products’ of MySQL Installer 5.6.15, which appears, but fails, to upgrade its now included MySQL for Visual Studio component from 1.0.2 to 1.1.3, the installation result is “Update download failed security check”.

By ignoring the above result and continuing to install MySQL for Visual Studio only for Visual Studio 2013 (i.e. deselecting its components for Visual Studio 2008, 2010 and 2012) the installation result in ‘Check Requirements’ of MySQL Installer is:

“The product “MySQL for Visual Studio 1.1.3” requires “Visual Studio 2008, 2010, 2012” but it was not detected on this machine. “Visual Studio 2008, 2010, 2012” requires manual installation and must be installed prior to installing “MySQL for Visual Studio 1.1.3”. By clicking ‘Execute’, “MySQL for Visual Studio 1.1.3” will be removed from the list of products to install. Once the “Visual Studio 2008, 2010, 2012” has been met, please run the MySQL Installer again and you will be able to complete installation”.

Further, the above results occurred with both ‘mysql-installer-community-5.6.15.0.msi’ and ‘mysql-installer-web-community-5.6.15.0.msi’, with each of their hashes being verified.
