Hello David,
Thanks for writing in our forums to report this.

The problem you found may be a bug in one of the custom actions performed by the MySQL for Visual Studio MSI (the custom action I am talking about is VS11_UpdatePackageFile) suggested by the log output you posted.

The behavior you are seeing though has not been seen by our QA department or reported by any other user, meaning this may be a strange or very specific scenario.

You would greatly help us by filing a bug report at http:\\ against MySQL for VS and describing your specific configuration (OS, what VS versions you currently have and which ones may have been uninstalled from the computer, being an upgrade, what version of MySQL for VS you are migrating from and to, this same log output, etc...)

As a workaround, have you tried removing the old MySQL for VS and then installing the newer version?
