Francisco, thanks for your reply. Sorry I didn't get back here sooner. I have a simple learning application that works for MsMYSql and I am willing to re-do it to see if I can make it work on MySQL. I think I have all the appropriate software and connectors installed.

I can tell the problem is in the MySQL syntax. Visual Web Developer 2010 puts [] in the sql queries. For example,if I insert a gridview and tell it to add SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE queries, it chokes on the SELECT query because of the extra []'s. I can fix that but because it stops there it doesn't enter the other queries at all. They aren't even there to edit. Sure, I could enter those queries by hand myself, but the point of using VWD is to not have to learn and write the MySQL queries by hand.

Surely this is a bug for which a fix is anticipated???
