Visual Studio 2015 Community + MySQL -issue

Hi,

I'm using Visual Studio 2015 Community edition (with the latest updates) in
Windows 10 Pro (VS is installed to D: as well as MySQL related files) and
currently studying C#/ASP.NET and Entity Framework andwould like to utilize MySQL
with Visual Studio and ASP.NET Core -projects.

I have installed both:
- MySQL for Visual Studio 1.2.6
- MySQL Connector / .NET 6.9.8 (tried also 6.9.9)

I have been following the instructions from here:
https://dev.mysql.com/doc/visual-studio/en/visual-studio-install.html

My MySQL -server is 5.6.17 (part of WAMP installation) and the connection is working
ok, e.g. with phpMyAdmin.

However, in Visual Studio, I cannot see MySQL as a connection option in Server
Explorer (I have tried to follow these instructions: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/visual-studio/en/visual-studio-making-a-connection.html).

I have understood that the above (MySQL for Visual Studio and Connector / .NET) should
be enough with Visual Studio, but for some reason it didn't seem to work.

I was wondering if others have seen similar issues and if you have overcome them?

Thanks!

BR,
c0mm4

PS. I also tried to install this package: https://dev.mysql.com/doc/visual-studio/en/visual-studio-install.html, but the same issue is seen (and it also does
install everything to C:, while I would prefer D: as my data drive).
