MySQL for Visual Studio 2017 - modify failing

I am trying to get MySQL for VS 2017 to work. I have installed (first) MySQL for VS 2017 1.2.8, and then I have installed Connector/Net 8.0.16. This did not work but one posting online suggested modifying the MySQL for VS 2017 by ticking the environment options relating to VS version (the VS 2017 options were NOT ticked running the full installation of MySQL for VS 2017)
However, when I run this modification, it fails:

1: The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: H:\VSPath2017\Common7. The installation cannot continue. Log on as administrator or contact your system administrator.
1: Action 10:29:11: Rollback. Rolling back action:
1: Copying new files
1: Updating component registration
1: CreateRegKeyAndExtensionsFile_VS2017_Pro
1: CreateRegKeyAndExtensionsFile_VS2017_Ent
1: CreateRegKeyAndExtensionsFile_VS2017
1: 1: MySQL for Visual Studio 1.2.8 2: {8FAF420D-7967-44AC-B8B1-F7067944F904} 3: 2
1: The action 'Modify' for product 'MySQL for Visual Studio 1.2.8' failed.

It is reporing the it cannot access the directory Common7 - but the installer created the VSPath2017, and then fails when trying to create a sub-directory...

This seems odd - has anyone met this problem, and found a solution?
