InnoDB Cluster synchronous or asynchronous replication

In the default mode, Single-primary, the replication is happening asynchronously and in Multi-primary it happens synchronously, is this right ?

I mean, in the default mode, the primary instance doesn't wait for a commit confirmation from one or more secondary instances but in the multi-primary mode using an optimistic approach it does?

Thanks in advice,
Chris
