Addition:

The test packets are sent to the old system which has 2 x AUT (auth files) configured with SQL code. These files also have the SQL Servers IP. I change these to point to the new server for the SQL DB.

On the old system, mysql 5.5 is used.

Maybe something to do with the encoding, as I said.
