I think you must've figured this error in the past 3 years, but for others like me, who stumble upon this thread check out this link:

max_open_files warning during mysqld startup
increase your open files soft and hard limits in /etc/security/limits.conf so that it is permenant.
MySQL, YourSQL, OurSQL :)
