change the mysql datetime format

Is that possible to change the mysql datetime default format. the datetime format we are using now is YYYY/MM/DD, if i want it change to MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY ,is that possible? I don't mean the format for viewing because I know I can using the sql statement to change the view format. i mean the INSERT format. eg. i want my insert format is using mm/dd/yyyy something like ms sql.
