derivative enum

Would it be possible to have a second enum field whose possible values depend upon the selection of the first? If possible, would it be at all efficient to do so instead of disabling "notnull" and simply having multiple secondary enum columns?

Implementation: I'm using sqlbuddy to administer a localhost mysql instance to catalog items and item properties, intended for later game development for a friend. Whether or not sql queries will be used by the game engine ultimately depends upon performance and intended game audience. (i.e. SinglePlay, MMO)

Thanks for any time and attention, let alone sound advice, that you folks may offer:
