How should I make text column search faster?

My address column is currently defined as varchar(300) and most of the entries are below 100. Average is 70 characters only.

I have two tasks to accomplish for the address field
i) they should be unique
ii) its search should be fast

There are currently 29 million records and expected to increase by 6 times till December.

I am thinking of creating a hash and putting unique constraint on hash column.

Please suggest me how long hash I should use?
And, Is it really worthwhile to even consider hashing?

If I put index on hash column while unique constraint on address column then there will be two physical indexes or unique constraint will make only virtual index?

Thanks for your attention!
