Re: ibdata1 Suddenly Grew by 11GB, How Can I fix?

Hi James,

Thanks for you suggestions. It looks like I'm going to dump, delete, reload all databases next weekend.

However, I am a little concerned that setting innodb_file_per_table=ON might slow the system.

The server in question is a large AWS EC2 instance. It conatins 12 Drupal CMS databases, each with 450 to 500 tables. So, at a guess I'd say there are over 5,000 tables in that system.

I'm resigned to dump, delete, reload to reclaim that 11GB. However, performance is a much more important to us than space. In fact on EC2, it is relatively easy to increase drive space.

Are we likely to experience a noticable difference in performance?

Thank you.

Cheers

Brett
