Myisam create database specification?

since 4.1 the standard is innodb, can the database on a create be specified as myisam
and what would be the sytax for this to choose between the two?

Or does this have to be specified on a table create and not on a database create?

Is myisam faster than innodb, it seems this way to me.

Thanks for any help
