I agree that it is now quite clear that we have a bug in the MySQL locking code. Recently we fixed a similar bug (with DROP TABLE, so unrelated to this one). It took us several weeks to find the cause. Now I hope that we can fix the index bug too. I would be very glad if you could complete your work on that application.
