I agree with the first section.
But I doubt that the many forms of table corruptions are the same problem. I fear that there are a couple of bugs in MyISAM. It might take a while until we are able to identify them all.
In this case, however, it might not even be a bug. The problem might be an improper copy of the data from Windows to Linux. For example copying while the MySQL server/service was still running. Or copying with carriage return/newline conversion. It would be helpful to get a more exact description of what has been done. Including the MySQL version(s).
