Since this is not MyISAM related, my reply might not be very useful. In this case please ask in the "General" forum.

I see two possible problems:

The --host option in the first script looks weird. What do you think this should do? IP\IP is a format I did not see before. What shell are you using? Is it possible that the backslash is suppressed unless duplicated (i.e. IP\\IP)? Or, more probable, try to leave out backslash and client IP number.

A dump from a 4.1 table might contain syntax elements that 3.23 does not understand. If you would copy the error messge(s) you get from your script, this could be very helpful.
