Sorry, but I can't say. I have little experience with performance questions.

The time required for a repair of a 4GB table should mainly depend on the number and complexity of the indexes. Of course the hardware of the machine and the configuration of the caches matter too. However, I'm not so familiar with all the cache options and how they play together.

If you used the REPAIR TABLE command, you won't get much information, how far the process is now. If you had used myisamchk with a couple of -v options, you would see at least some progress information. 24h sounds very much. But I won't be surprised if it is still working OK.
