I tryed the experiment on both windows and linux however ur right is have to be with when the file is actually fully closed. I discovered it before reading ur post by doing several experiments. However I do apreciate ur answers.
One funny thing I discover in both windows and linux is that even If I move the file to another folder as long as it remains in the same disc mysql (actually the OS also helps) is capable of tracking it down and writing the remaining records when I shut down mysql. So if I move the file back and restart mysql in many cases all the records are gonna be ok :)
Of course I will never do it on a production enviroment but now I know how it works! So thank you!
