If it happened on that table again, authorization to send you the original files wouldn't be a problem. I'll let everybody know (albeit the copy of the table files of course can not be done by everybody).
As we probably don't have a chance to take the whole server down for that: Should we do a FLUSH TABLES before we copy the files or just copy them as soon as the table is marked as crashed? (The server probably won't allow us to get a LOCK on a crashed table anyway, so I left this option out.)
So now let's just hope it happens again in a reasonable amount of time. ;-) (I know this wish is a little bit absurd - but that's what we need to find the bug!)
