Many thanks for your response.

I have just downloaded the 64 bit version and looked in the mysqlbug script which contains the compile options for configure. It has --disable-largefile set in there.

My understanding is that you can run AIX in 32 bit mode or 64 bit mode (we are running in 32 bit mode) and therefore the 64 bit would probably not execute correctly anyway.

Either way both 32 and 64 bit versions have large file support explicitly disabled for some reason I cannot fathom.

Any further ideas on where I can follow this up?
