I'm having a similar problem. I believe that you're right -- the problem is being caused by either my hardware or Linux. In my case I'm running:
* 4.0.20-max InnoDB
* RH Linux 2.4.21-20.EL #1 Wed Aug 18 20:46:27 EDT 2004 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
The corruption has happened twice in the last 3 months and rebooting the system makes it go away. Just restarting the DB does not make it go away. In your experience, is this usually an OS problem or a hardware problem? Is there some setup or something that I can do to fix this? E.g. can I turn on some option to flush the system file cache if this error is encountered? Is there some version of the Kernel that I should upgrade (downgrade?) to? If I were to put the InnoDB tables in their own partition or something might that help?
