Guys,
I had same problem on my linux machine running mysql 5.0.3.
I was able to solve this by making my log file bigger. By default ib_logfile0 and ib_logfile1 are 5M. I guess the delete i was running had more than 5 meg worth of data and was not able to fit in logfile. I change the log file to 50M and reran the process no more errors.
