Please note that there are hard-to-reproduce bugs in the crash recovery of row_format=compact tables in 5.0.3. I'm trying to reproduce them.
InnoDB Hot Backup 2.0 does not recognize the new InnoDB table format of 5.0.3. A new version of InnoDB Hot Backup will be released in a few months.
