The thoery of how the cache would be flushed to disk at power on is fine. In my experiences with these controllers is that they did not always work as advertised. So, even though they offered excellent performance we spent lots of time recovering the dbs.

If you are planning to use innodb, then recovering corrupt db files can be a huge headache. We found that write caching enhancement is not worth the effort.
