We do have backups running at night. They take ~12 hours or so. I would use that to build the slave and then let catch up...
I am not able to change servers so I had another idea: build the slave on the same server and then switch to that as the new master.
I have to test whether that is not going to cause too much I/O on our system...
What do you think of this option?
