Was it a MacBook OS upgrade, and if so did the upgrade switch the system from HFS+ to UFS, or was it a MySQL upgrade, and if so did you do it with data in place or did you run mysqldump backup & restore?

As you've discovered, mixed-case identifiers are most always a terrible idea for MySQL, It appears you're now looking at a painful fix, see the list of steps at https://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/identifier-case-sensitivity.html
