Apparently these changes have not fixed the problem I'm afraid. I wonder if the size of the table is hitting some other MySQL limit? This database has just one table with 16012 rows and the ibdata file size is 113 GB - the operating system is FreeBSD 11.1 on a UFS filesystem so it is unlikely to be an O/S limit ('ulimit -f' reports unlimited and there are bigger files stored on this system).
