I did a stupid thing

I did a very, very stupid thing.I unistalled and updated Mysql without backing up the database. After the update the connection was still available in Workbench, but no tables. I could only find a mysql.idb (C:\ProgramData\MySQL\MySQL Server 8.0\Data\mysql.ibd) which seems big enough to hold the data. If have read that a .ibd can be used to recover a database, but I'm petrified to try anything in case I stuff things further up as a noob.

Can someone please help.
Regards

Ps. I still have the table structures available in Visual studio.
