Long/lat usage
Hi,
I am attempting to develop a Location Based Service and I would like to know if it is possible to use mysql to do this.
As I understand it, mysql does not support geocentric co-ordinates, just planar. I was planning on get long/lat co-ord's from a GPS system using J2ME's location api and then running a spatial 'nearest ' query in my DB to find the nearest services.
Can anyone offer any insight or advice as to how I might achieve this with mysql?
