Thanks for the answer. This almost makes me want to examine PostgreSQL, as an alternative.
Is there any effort being done on the branch? Even without the ability to contribute to this code wise, is there any way non MySQL programmers can help move this forward?
BTW I looked at the source repository (
https://code.launchpad.net/mysql-server ) but could not see the branch you were referring to.
