Something for a future update...

(I am new to MySQL so forgive me if I this already exists.)
I recognize the benefit and power of setting individual process memory allocations. However, it seems getting those settings right for each installation requires a fair amount of internal knowledge. Additionally, it would seem that as an installation ages and the metrics of the database(s) change, the memory allocations will need to be tweaked.

What I would like to see is a single "master" config parameter that tells MySQL, "Here is the maximum amount of RAM available to you. Use it wisely."

Just a thought.

Thanks.

Rich
