MySQL Much Faster under Linux?

All,

Runnning my comparison on identical hardware using MySQL 4.10 and changing from Win 2003 to Red Hat Enterprice V3 shows the linux platform to be MUCH faster for certain sections of the sql-bench. Specifically connect & insert.

Curious as to why on this...we have kept the hardware the same on both installs, as well as ensuring disks are configured in an identical manor and MySQL has the same config params set etc. Connection wise we are using DBD-MySQL for both platforms (although obviously ActivePerl under Windows)

Ideas Appreciated.
