Advice Needed. 43 Million Records - 1 Table or Multi?

New user to the forums. I'm currently in the design stage and want to make sure I get this right. I will be importing a large number of records which is likely to reach 43 million mark quite quickly.

Each record can be categorised into 1 of 40 categories.

So would it be better to create 40 tables, each being a catergory and then split up the 43 million records or just hold everything in 1 big table.

Daily I will be importing new records and removing old records from the tables.

The table or tables will be used mainly for searches of information so was thinking of using mysiam.

Any advice gratefully received.
