No performance issue with the different sized INTs (TINYINT...BIGINT), per se. But BIGINT takes 8 bytes per row. With a million rows, that's 8MB of disk space and/or cache space, as opposed to 4MB for INT or 1MB for TINYINT.

If you table or database is small, the disk space difference won't matter enough to notice. But when you get into gigabytes of data, it can make a difference.
