I'm sorry but I think you did not get me.

2: A single item can have 100+ related data values, while an other probably has just 2.
Putting this type of data into columns -as u suggest- does not seem like a good idea to me.

3: the keys/values in the map table are both int(11), how would converting them to blob help (!?)
