Good setup.

When you restart a slave or do FLUSH LOGS, a "relay log" is started. This will necessarily make _slave_ filenames/positions in SHOW SLAVE STATUS change and be inconsistent with other slaves. Is that what you are seeing?

One slight improvement on the setup: Have half the slaves hang off the readonly master. That way, if you lose the writable master, you will still have a correctly setup Master-Slave to fail over to. The dead master and any Slave(s) hanging off can't replicate until they are rebuilt.

Are all the machines in the same building? (I'm thinking of carrying HA to the next level.)
