See "Profiling".
But I prefer to use the "slow log". It gives, after the fact, the elapsed time and the number of rows "examined".

Naughty queries are usually I/O-bound, not CPU-bound, so elapsed time is a better measure. Also, elapsed time is important to the end-user.
