I've installed all suggested fixes (changing /tmp to tmpfs, and changing the ulimits) but still no luck. I've still have queries which hang for a very long time and continue to hang until I kill them.

I run a busy board on my dedicated and it's also phpBB as well.

Are there any other solution for this? The MySQL team had said it will be fixed in 30 or so days in one of the bug reports I read. However that was months ago in 2005 which means there hasn't beena any improvement since then.

My suspicon is why would it only happen to a few who are not searching vigourously for a solution and many others don't face such problems. Could it be the way we've compiled MySQL or something similar to the ulimit prob which may be affecting all of us?
