Hi,

I was reading this thread with great interest. I have noticed the same thing. Sorts seemed to be taking forever on relitively small data sets.

I would love to know the answer to this, and if MySQL AB are looking into it.

I got around it by using temporary tables. I retrieved the dataset I wanted and stored it in a temporary Heap table then sorted the resulting in memory table. It seems to work fairly quickly, but I would like to see if there is an answer that isn't a Work Around.
