slow database performance on windows 2k3 server

hello,

i have some troubles with the database performance on a windows 2003 standard server. when running a query it is 2 to 3 times slower than a desktop pc which is equally fast as an linux server.
the windows server has two intel cpus with hyperthreading, 2 gb ram and 10k rpm scsi drives. the desktop runs windows xp with an 1800+ athlon, 256 mb ram and an ide hard drive. the linux server has also two cpus.
the windows server needs nearly 6 seconds to run the query. the other two machines need 2 seconds. the databases size is roughly 500mb.
there ist no difference when running the query local or over network or even with php.
I donĀ“t know what to do. any suggestions.

with regards
marcel
