Basic Standards of Mysql server variable setting

Dear Rick James/any one,

Is there any basic standards to set server variables.

For example-
Using Mysql5.5 version on 64 bit linux server
Disk space is 500 GB (can assume avg. data size will be 350 GB)
RAM is 24 GB
select queries - 80 to 90%
Insert queries - approx 5 to 6%
Update queries - approx 4 to 5%
max users can be - 1000

Please help me how I can allocate memory in different important server variables so that can get maximum performance and can avoid slowness in production.

Thanks,
Zafar
