Temp tables on Disk issue

Hi Friends,

We are facing an issue with temp tables on disk. 80% of temp tables are created on disk, which can be a performance issue. We have done followings things:

Have already increased tmp_table_size and max_heap_table_size upto 32M but it made no difference on stats, earlier it was 16M.

One thing I wanna inform that we are using longtext field in many of tables.

How can i start troubleshooting, as increasing the value of variables tmp_table_size and max_heap_table_size has not shown any benefit and stats are remail same.

Is there any way to resolution without converting longtext to varchar?

Regards,
Devrishi
